The first Cleveleys Classic Vehicle Show in 2012

The event organisers had been hard at it for weeks, getting things sorted out and ready for this event which saw the whole of Cleveleys town centre and promenade chock-full of classic vehicles of all kinds for the day. Even the rain couldn't put a dampner on proceedings and the crowds who turned out all enjoyed the event.

Blackpool North and Cleveleys MP Paul Maynard opened the show and was the guest judge, tasked with the important job of chosing his judges favourite vehicle to be awarded a plaque, along with other prizes which were awarded on the day.

'We're trying to attract a new audience to Cleveleys who might not have been here before, so that once they've been they will come back again' said Paul Wilcock from Montpelier Chartered Accountants, one of the organisers of the event. 'Cleveleys is a super place for all the family and in easy reach of many north west towns, and we want people to discover it and come back. We've also arranged entertainment, with music and acts on the promenade in the performance area, to really link the seafront with the town centre.'

Cleveleys Association of Commerce and Trade organised the event along Victoria Road West, just one of the things they are doing to bring people to town and keep footfall high. 'Cleveleys is a busy and popular place, and although everyone has suffered to some extent from the recession, we've been more fortunate than most' said John Prothero from Fredericks. 'We need to make sure that footfall doesn't slip and events like this are just one of the ways in which the Association is making an effort to help Cleveleys to help itself'.

Lancashire Motor Vehicle Club organised the promenade section of the event, and their members lined the top level of the seafront itself, making a promenade route with a difference as you enjoyed your stroll at the seaside with a full range of vehicles on display.

With the help of Russell Larcombe from http://www.ukwheelsevents.com/ and Dave Evans from Lancashire Vehicle Club, this new Classic Vehicle event has been arranged as the highlight of the summer season, to put Cleveleys back on the map for summer entertainment.
